About The Physiotherapy Clinic

Our clinics in Newport have been established for over 20 years and we have firm professional relationships with local GPs, Consultants, sports teams,  health clubs, solicitors and occupational groups. All Physiotherapists at our clinics are Chartered (MCSP) and registered with The Health Professions Council (HPC). These qualifications guarantee you see a physiotherapist who is properly qualified, is governed by a professional "code of conduct" and is covered by professional liability insurance. All Chartered and HPC registered Physiotherapists are required to maintain a continuing education portfolio which ensures we keep our skills updated and are are aware of new professional research and development.

How We Can Help You

Following an initial asessment we will formulate a plan of treatment tailored to you as an individual.  Ongoing assessment and individual attention will help to attain goals to return you to your particular lifestyle or assist with the management of a long term disability.

Treatment will include a wide range of skills including manipulation, mobilistion, massage and exercises aided by the use of sophisticated electromedical apparatus designed to help in the relief of pain and promotion of healing.  Preventative measures are very important in physiotherapy and we will spend time teaching you how to avoid a recurrence of your problem.

Professional Associations

We are also members of the following professional bodies:

  • Physio First, previously known as the Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice (OCPPP).
  • Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP)
  • Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine (ACPSM)

What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the treatment and prevention of injury and disease by natural means. These natural means involve many varied skills gained over several years of extensive recognised training in order to achieve the title of Chartered Physiotherapist. The aim of physiotherapy is to help alleviate pain, restore normal movement and function patterns and help return the body to its natural balanced state without chemical intervention.

Physiotherapy And Acupuncture

Acupuncture is used by Physiotherapists, against a background of sound research and evidence, as a means of enhancing pain modulation via the stimulation of the brain and spinal cord to produce NATURAL pain relieving chemicals, such as endorphins; melatonin to promote sleep, serotonin to promote well being, to name but a few. These assist the body's healing process and offer pain relief as a precursor for other manual or exercise therapy. Acupuncture is also used by Advanced AACP members as a means of addressing some systemic and longer term illness, but always with the aim of enhancing physiotherapy treatment and improving the quality of life.
